Don't Panic Mr Mannering!

Wednesday boss Brian Laws has revealed his plea to the Wednesday strikers to stop panicking in front of goal helped his troops to a confidence-boosting win at Blackpool.

Marcus Tudgay and Deon Burton both got the goals in the second half to see Wednesday to a crucial win at Bloomfield Road, although the visitors missed a number of chances to lead at the break.

But Laws revealed his words of wisdom to his attackers helped them stay calm in front of goal and bag the goals required to win the game against a poor Blackpool side.

'This is not an easy place to come to. At half-time I told my players to stop panicking in front of goal and that seemed to work,' Laws told BBC Sport.

'I thought defensively we were superb and it was great to get a clean sheet.

'I was delighted to see Deon Burton rise to the occasion and take his chance. The victory gives us something to build on in our games ahead.'

Laws insists he'll use the victory of a benchmark for forthcoming games, and is hoping the rare victory, and clean sheet, away from home will stand them in a good position to move up the Championship table.

'I've got some selection problems for Saturday. I've also got some delighted players,' he told the Sheffield Star.

'We have been disappointing away from home, but now we have shown what we are capable of.

'This will give us a good basis to work from. It shows we are capable of working hard and defending as a unit, and we cannot only keep clean sheets but win games as well.'
