Laws Pens New Owls Deal

Wednesday boss Brian Laws has ended speculation about his Hillsborough future by agreeing a new contract that will keep at the S6 helm until 2011.

The former Scunthorpe boss revealed he was set for talks with the Wednesday board earlier this week but still needed to clear up a couple of things before signing on the dotted line.

But those problems now seem to have been dealt with, and Laws' new two-year deal with the Owls could well see him become the longest serving manager at the club in the last ten years.

Laws told SWFC.co.uk: 'My ambition when I took this job was to take Sheffield Wednesday back to the Premier League and that is still something that drives me on for success with this great football club.

'I am delighted to sign a new contract here and, while there have been changes at the club during my initial two years at Hillsborough, we have a firm plan in place to improve the footballing operations at the club and drive Sheffield Wednesday on up the League.'

'I would like to thank the Owls fans for their tremendous backing during my initial two years at the club and I will endeavour to pay back the supporters with success on the pitch.'

Laws has recently passed his 100-game mark and has flirted with both promotion and relegation since arriving at the club from the Iron.

But the majority of Owls fans will no doubt be delighted at the news, which will no doubt be a huge boost ahead of the visit of Norwich City in the Championship on Saturday.

Get in there!!!! He said he had to clear some things up before signing anything, he wanted to some funds in January!!! Hopefully this means Kaka and Messi are on there way to Hillsbourgh!!

This hopefully means that the board might actually get there finger out and give us some kind of funds. As for BL signing a new contract that is fantastic. Who knows play offs this season and if not this season automatic next what do people think? UP THA OWLS!!!!!!!!!!!!

no but bartosz slursarski in before 5pm today, burton out to charlton, lets hope he'll be getting rid of more of the dead wood and crocks, even better news about laws staying, top man.

Kaka and Messi Gilley? Be realistic son. We want to get Rory Delap from Stoke- I'm sure lewis Buxton knows what to do with them! Not sure that getting rid of Burton is the right thing.

Burton is not the class we need to push Wednesday forward! I'm not sure Bart is either but he is better than Burton at least! Whelean to come for me! Exciting times ahead would love a young fast striker who knows where the goal is!

Slusarski will score more goals than Burton will so for me it's a good piece of business by Laws.
