'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Cheers, Tony!

Tony McMahon played his final game for the Owls in his loan spell from Middlesbrough at the weekend and will go back to the Riverside with a huge thanks from Wednesdayites.

McMahon scored Wednesday's first goal in the 3-2 victory over Norwich City in the Championship on Saturday, a fitting end to his successful three-month stint in the famous blue and white stripes.

He made a huge impression on Wednesdayite's with his top-drawer performances week-in, week-out, and Owls fans will no doubt only be too happy to see him return to Wednesday in the future should the chance arise.

'I'm really sad to be leaving but my aim now is to go back to Boro and make a challenge for the shirt,' McMahon told the official SWFC website.

'The fans here have been fantastic to me and I'd like to thank the gaffer and Russ (Wilcox) for giving me the chance to come here.

'I've loved my time here and to go out with a win was special. But I go back better and stronger and hopefully I will give the manager there a headache.'

And regular forum members on the Vital Sheffield Wednesday forum were quick to priase the right-back for his performances during his time at the club.

swfcnathan said: 'Dont know about anyone else but id love to see him back in january. Ok so frankie looks like hes getting back to fitness and will no doubt be 1st choice but apart from the sending off which was stupid I think hes one for the future.'

David Hirst said: 'He deserves his own thread though for his commitment and contribution to us. I have never seen a premiership loan player have such a positive attitude (Jimmy Smith take note!). He played his heart out for Sheffield Wednesday and genuinely seemed to appreciate the opportunity to get some games under his belt even if it was at a lower level.'

Auckland Owl said: 'Looked good when I saw him, seems to be able to deliver a ball into the box too. Chuffed to see him score yesterday and he'd be a great addition.'

Cheers, Tony, and good luck in the future from all at Vital Sheffield Wednesday!
