Injury Blow For Owls' JJ

Wednesday have been dealt a blow ahead of the traditionally busy festive period with the news that jet-heeled winger Jermaine Johnson could be out until the New Year.

The knee injury picked up in the 2-0 victory over Blackpool last week is more serious than first thought and the Jamaican international is likely to miss the hectic Christmas period, with the lay-off expected to be around four weeks.

Owls boss Brian Laws told the official SWFC website: 'Jermaine Johnson's injury is one that has taken everybody by surprise because the knee is worse than we first thought. There is damage to the medial ligament so it will keep him out for the next four weeks.'

The news means Etienne Esajas is likely to get more run-outs throughout December to try and cement a place in the starting eleven, while Marcus Tudgay is set to continue as a makeshift winger.

Wade Small could also come back into contention for Laws after declaring himself fit and available for selection for Saturday's trip to Southamtpton.

Good! Think Esajas is far a better player than JJ and deserves to be in the team. JJ only has pace and that's it for me! Wade Small can feck off. If he comes on he will last a few minutes before he's off injured again! Time to get rid Laws.
will it ever happen
Esajas is top of the assists chart for Wednesday so he's a more than adequate replacement. Small will pull his hamstring getting on the bus to go to Saints so we can't rely on him.
