Laws Looks For Permanent Buxton Deal

Wednesday boss Brian Laws is hoping to make the signing of Stoke City's Lewis Buxton a permanent one when the transfer window re-opens in January.

The defender is currently on loan at Hillsborough from the Premier League club and is keen to get more regular first-team football, with Wednesday keen to oblige.

The 25-year-old is down the pecking order with Stoke, and with Tony McMahon heading back to Middlesbrough and doubts over the fitness of Frank Simek, Laws is keen to sign the versatile defender on a permanent deal.

'Lewis has been a good acquisition and is a player we would like to have in our squad,' Laws told Sky Sports.

'He is so versatile that he is really useful to club in a situation like ours.'

Buxton has already played in all positions in the Wednesday backline and is also looking to secure his future with his contract at Stoke up at the end of the season.

'My contract with Stoke is up in the summer and I need to sort something out as soon as I can,' he told the Daily Star.

'Sheffield Wednesday is a big club that can go places.'

Cant see BL or Wednesday paying much for him if we had too. But as Mick says, we should get him on a freebie!!
