'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Clarke's Christmas KO

Wednesday's in-form striker Leon Clarke will miss the Owls entire Christmas fixture programme in a fresh blow to boss Brian Laws.

The former Wolves man had been in the form of his career at Hillsborough, making him one of the first names down on the team sheet in recent weeks.

But Clarke is now set for two more weeks on the sidelines with a hamstring injury which forced him to miss the Owls' 2-0 defeat at Cardiff City at the weekend.

Laws told the Sheffield Star: 'It's been horrendous but we just have to get on with it and we're not going to use injuries as a excuse,' he said.

'No matter what condition we are in, what we put out there is still good enough to get a result, and I expect us to go out there and win the game.'

Youngster Nathan Modest, who bagged his Owls league debut on Saturday, is another doubt for Saturday, but Laws could be boosted with the return of Francis Jeffers.

com'on Jeffers, all we want for Christmas is a goal, oh and a win, oh and another goal, oh and a huge investment package finally in place and happening, not too much to ask is it??

Could do with him back now after the last two performances. Very poor Wednesday. Should have been at least 4 points not one (Blackpool & Coventry)
will it ever happen
