'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Let The Rumour Mill Begin!

The new year not only signalled the start of what Owls fans will be hoping is a good year at S6, but also the opening of the transfer window for January.

Of course, we're not expecting Kaka or Ronaldinho through the doors - hey, we'd be happy with anyone at all bolstering what's obviously a worryingly thin squad that Brian Laws has to work with this season.

But Wednesday fans, and Laws himself, will no doubt be keeping a close eye on proceedings throughout January with a number of current Owls linked with a move away from Hillsborough.

Mark Beevers, Richard Wood and Jermaine Johnson have been just a few of the names linked with moves away, with Wednesday likely to accept 'decent' offers for any of their players.

Since his arrival at the club Laws, rather frustratingly, has been on a 'must sell to buy' operation for his dealings in the transfer window and the same is likely to be the case this month.

Should the squad dwindle even further, Owls fans will be looking to get good money for both Beevers and Wood, while rumours linking Lee Grant with a move away for £5 may be a little over the top, but he's certainly attracting interest.

So can we expect something to happen sooner or later?

Laws will certainly be hoping for things to happen sooner, so if players are to move away he has sufficient time to bring replacements, if any, in.

He may have already earmarked possible replacements, whether they be in the transfer market or the loan market but he's keeping tight-lipped.

One such replacement deal has already been done with Deon Burton moving away from S6 to sign for Championship rivals Charlton Athletic, while West Brom striker Bartosz Slusarski is set to be his replacement after enjoying two previous loan stints at Hillsborough.

Keep your eyes on Vital Sheffield Wednesday for all the rumours and transfer news throughout January!

Has Lunt left for good yet? Lets hope so!! Any ideas who's coming in? There's a keeper at millwall that were after apparently! This would make sense if Grant is going! Maclean from peterbourgh!

i liked the look of gow who played for blackpool but he is having talks with wolves,we need a decent midfield player who's cofident on the ball our mid field is huff & puff and give the ball away.

Gow is the man your on about TC but it looks like is all sewn up at Wolves!
will it ever happen
gow was blackpools best player the other week, I liked the look of that jackson fella at gillingham lightning pace, confident on the ball and a pretty good scoring record ( scored a beauty against villa on sunday), we desperatley need some quality in the middle of the park someone who can keep hold of the ball pass it we are seriously lacking in creativity and it would be nice to add to the squad not sign replacements
