Strafford Named Wednesday Chairman

A press conference was called at S6 this morning to confirm new director Lee Strafford has become the club's new chairman.

The announcements mark a rapid change at S6 with Nick Parker, who was also elected on to the Owls board at the same time as Strafford late last year, also revealed as the chief executive officer.

Strafford takes over from former chairman Dave Allen, who left the club some time ago with no immediate replacement, while Parker replaces Kaven Walker who left the club recently.

Both were initially elected onto the board until March 31 to help with bringing new investment into the club.

But the new permanent appointments will be announced to the stock exchange this morning.

Strafford was the founder of Sheffield-based internet group, and Owls' main club sponsor PlusNet before selling up, while Parker was former chief financial officer at the Dyson group.

Neither have as yet pledged any personal money going into Hillsborough, but the duo are still actively looking for fresh investment at S6 and the duo have already shown signs of improvements in the club as a whole.

Good news at last, and they seem to want to get things going pretty quickly. Good vibes at long last!

can anyone remember about this time last year all the promise's, i and thousands more took it all in, got a new season ticket, cost nearly £500 and for what to watch a bunch of academy kids run around hillsborough, while the first team take it in turns who's going to be injured, i for one will not be doing that again, so these two better act quick or i be going the same way as thousands of others have this season.

Yes but doesn't it sound more positive than last year? To me it does. Strafford is a Wednesday fan and will only have the very best intents for the club!

Listened to Mr Strafford on radio sheffield last night, talked very well and seemed like a man with a plan. Also worth noting he is wokring for nothing, due to the Millions he made selling plus net to BT. Will be interesting to see what happens with our main sponsors, as his departure from there was very acrimonious
