Owls' Potter Signing Confirmed

Wednesday have confirmed that Wolves' former Liverpool midfielder Darren Potter has arrived at Hillsborough on loan until the end of the season.

As reported on Vital Sheffield Wednesday this morning, Potter had emerged the favourite to become Brian Laws' second loan signing of the January transfer window.

And the club have now confirmed that the 24-year-old has arrived at S6 and will go straight into the squad to face Charlton Athletic on Saturday.

Owls boss Brian Laws told the official SWFC site: 'Darren is a box to box midfielder, very athletic and he can see a pass.

'He can certainly add to our midfield. He's hungry, enthusiastic and has a desire to play football. He's another part of our plan.'

The Irishman made the switch to Molineux after coming through the Anfield youth ranks and made an initial loan move a full one in 2007 for a feee of 250,000.

i have a mate that met him on holiday just before he joined wolves on loan from liverpool in 2006. he started out playing fullback then.
WorksopsNumber1
It's about time we had a wizard in midfield!!!!! ( I'll leave it with you all).
BOUNCIN OWL
Sounds like just the player we need. Not heard anything about him, but a box-to-box midfielder with the ability to supply a telling pass? Hope he plays well.....
US Owl
i would have preffered ambrose or even nafti from birmingham but i spose it could be worse!!!
supersibon
yepp it could have beeb brian potter
mick66owl
Well lets see what he can do for us. Hope he has that telling pass that cut defences open! :0
will it ever happen
yh-he cant be any worse than jimmy smith. i reckon he'll do a decent job!!!
supersibon
I hope he does well for you.
Buzz Lightyear
wheres pigforlife disappeared too since they sold beattie and the good news coming out of s6. think hes been sold to the slaughter house
Looney Tune
Who gives a ***** about bfl? I would have preferred Kaka from Milan, Messi from Barcelona or C. Ronaldo from Manchester United, but Potter is a great signing. Pretty excited.
HootingMad
Kaka, Messi and Ronaldo arent good enough to get in our first team.
Skeggy Owl
ive read he wants another striker but someone has to move out first-but who??
supersibon
good to know you've missed me looney-pig.
bladesforlife1889
lol - this guy went to the same school as me. he was useless at footy and couldnt even make it into our reserve side. he got picked on that much for being abit bow legged his parents moved him out of school!! honnestly. this has to be the funniest signing ive ever seen in my life. ha ha ha ha - this has really cheered me up for losing beattie now!! thats wendy fans for making my day. ha ha ha ha
bladesforlife1889
thanks ha ha ha ha ha ha
bladesforlife1889
Make the most of it piggy, your club is in more debt than mine. Do you really think that selling Beattie is the end of your sales. Naughton is next. Sell in a minute, you're gonna sell in a minute.
doitforlove
more in debt than yours?? ha ha ha ha ha it gets better and better today!! you think grant, wood, beevers, spurr and simek wont be off?? they will all be off this month if not, summer for a fact.
bladesforlife1889
i dont know what all the hype about beattie was anyway-i didnt rate him, and i dont think he did enough to earn those huge wages he got paid-not that i care, that they were payin joke wages to a average player!!!
supersibon
Isnt Peter Gilbert supposed to be leaving.
Skeggy Owl
wouldnt say he was average supersibon - but his contribution was very limited. We always turned a blind eye though as he always seemed to score regardless wether it was a pen or free kick. at the end of the day he still had to get the ball in the back of the net which he managed to do with ease.
bladesforlife1889
would ya say tho bfl, that for a guy who earned 30k to 40k a week, he did enough to deserve those wages?
supersibon
how can you have gone to school with him pigface..he"s 24years old and you stll at infants school..*****er!!
WORKSOP..OWL
So you went to school in Liverpool did you BFL. And then you wonder why we think you talk out of your backside all the time!
SuperOwls
I know you didn't go to school with him BFL because I was in the same class class as you. Don't you remember - I was the one who used to steal your dinner money and flush your head down the toilet!
Radon Barrier
shes back now after crying her self to sleep with her beattie bear
Looney Tune
hey moonpig, what's it like to be a selling club, you're manager and chairman are being found out. oh yes it's bum twitching time!!! sorry asset selling time!!!!!!!!
dbblue
Reckon we really needed Harry Potter in midfield lets hope Darren works his magic - apologies
Brighton Owl
He's a good passer of the ball but is a bit on the soft side. Lets hope he can do a decent job for us. Cant be any worse than Lunt and Smith can he?
will it ever happen
i concur
