Young Owls Beaten By Tykes

Sheffield Wednesday's Under 18s lost their first game of the new year at home to their counterparts from Barnsley.

Wednesday had taken the lead through Nick Wood, but elementary mistakes and a questionable decision led Barnsley to an eventual 3-1 win, with Jack Watts, Steven Bennett and Tyrone Crapper bagging the Tyke's goals.

Defeat sees Wednesday propping up the league table, but with Derby County the next team to visit Middlewood Road, McAuley's youngsters have the opportunity to get back on track.

Kick off is 11am next Saturday.
