Owls Set To Complete Buxton Deal

Wednesday boss Brian Laws is set to complete his third bit of business in the January transfer window by completing the full transfer of Stoke City's Lewis Buxton.

Buxton has been on loan at Hillsborough for the last three months and has impressed the Owls gaffer enough to warrant a permanent move in the blue and white stripes.

According to local media reports, it's believed a fee has been agreed with the Premier League side and the formalities are close to being completed.

Buxton played his last match of his loan spell for the Owls in the 4-1 victory over Charlton Athletic at the weekend and Wednesday are unable to extend the loan over the three months which have already been used up.

But Buxton is expected to be a full Owls player in time for Wednesday's Chammpionship trip to Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night.

Despite Buxton being out of contract at Stoke at the end of the season Wednesday are still expected to pay a fee for the defender, but it's only expected to be a minimal fee.

not a bad signing anyone think it might spell the end of simek
Any Chance that this could spell the end for Spurr??? As we do have an opening at LB at SPURS. Spurr at Spurs I love it!! Seriously tho does any owl fan think that Spurr would make it in the Prem??? Hearing alot about this boy over at Vital Spurs so just wanted gaunge your opinion on him (Tho I take it since Vital Wednesday are his official sponsor he must be a crowd favourite)
id be very happy if we could sign buxton permanently-i think hes been pretty consistent apart from 1 or 2 games. well i think the best thing about buxton is he can play anywhere across the back so i wouldnt say it spelt the end of simek but with hinds and gilbert id say it has given us plenty of depth in defence!!!! LW-spurr is a very very good young player and i think he could possibly do a decent job if he ever moved to the prem but hopefully he'll stay put for a good few years to come!!
Tommy Spurr is Sheffield Wednesday. I'd be gutted if he left
Buxton is a great signing. He really impressed me except for that first game at Oakwell.
Good steady player and a welcome signing. Cannot see Spurr going to Spurs. He's been one of the most improved players over the last few years and is only going to get better.
will it ever happen
gilbert must be the one to go not spurr buxton can play as either full back or left midfield he will be a good signing .
beverley owl
yh we shud get rid of gilbert and boden, free up some wages.
boden will be on tuppence apenny! don't know where you get these ideas from some times. I think Tommy as much as we love his desire would get found out in Prem. Tricky wingers always seem to get by him easily and consistently. Besides, I think Tommy would be lost in a big city like London.
Well sounds like you guys have a pretty good LB but i have heard him Likened to Stuart Pearce, hence why i wanted to know. WIEH I dont see anybody coming to Spurs after the Carling Cup Debacle and if we keep playing like that I'll be at Hillsborough to watch the mighty spurs play the owls, that is if Wednesday dont get promoted!!!
buxton is a solid signing he needs to learn to pass the ball though he gets caught in possession too often, would like to seea permanent move for michael gray aswell, he has been a top signing in my opinion
spurr was outstanding against fulham, looked the business and proved that against a prem side he can cut it, i was well impressed and on that performance alone don't want him to go anywhere
I wouldn't say Spurr is anything like Pearce! Spurr, for me, is a decent young player who is improving all the time but I agree with aball2112 he would get found out in Prem. For all his enthusiasm and being a likeable bloke, he does get caught out by any decent winger running at him, his one on one defending leaves a lot to be desired. I think he will make a decent player in the end and will probably be on the fringes of the prem evetually but not for a few years yetm still got a lot of learning to do.
well to be honest aball, i only ssaid boden because i dont think he should be considered for the first team nothing to do with the wages really!!! yh, his 1 on 1 defending is quite poor especially if the opposite player has pace.
All you Owl fans have been great in sharing your views, thanks for that! But you have also got me interested and I will definetly be tuning into the derby at Bramall Lane to see how Spurr and Beevers fair. Good Luck tho I doubt you'll need it since the Blades sold Beattie.
better luck to you watching it, its not on sodding tv, sum crappy game from the confrence is on instead. cheers for coming on here aswell, i always keep an eye out for spurs, my mate danny rose plays for you (injured at the moment tho) so keep an intrest in how your doing
Oh really I just presumed it would be on TV, considering its the Steel City Derby and all. Smiggy Danny Rose really excited me when he arrived and I've seen him a few times at the reserve games and he looks a great young player. Shame about the injury tho as he might have got a game against United in the FA cup as Harry is picking his "strongest" weakest team (confusing no?)
haha yea i heard that about the team hes picking, strange, yea speaking to him couple of weeks ago he shud be back in full trainin very soon, and believe me hes a cracking player
