Sodje Set To Return For Blades

Wednesday's injured striker Akpo Sodje could be set to return in the famous blue and white stripes in time for the Steel City Derby at Bramall Lane next month according to boss Brian Laws.

The absence of the former Port Vale man has been a big blow to Wednesday since picking up a hamstring injury.

But Laws has made sure Sodje will be involved in a number of behind-closed-doors friendly to get his fitness back up to scratch after returning to first team training recently.

"Akpo has been doing very well," Laws told the Sheffield Star.

"We might have to organise a couple of behind-closed-doors matches to get him up to scratch for the derby.

"He might figure in that game. I certainly wouldn't dismiss it. Don't rule him out."

Sodje featured as a substitute in the derby clash at Hillsborough which saw the Owls run out 1-0 winners, himself returning from an injury picked up in the opening game of the season.

And his return would be a huge boost to the Owls ahead of the game, with Leon Clarke also set to be ready to bolster Laws' attacking options with a return in next Tuesday's clash against Nottingham Forest.
