Blackwell: Defeat 'Hard To Live With'

Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell described the Blades' second Steel City Derby defeat of the season as 'hard to live with' and made few excuses for his side's 2-1 defeat to the Owls on Saturday.

Wednesday have held the upper hand in recent Sheffield Derby meetings and Saturday was no different as goals from Tommy Spurr and Marcus Tudgay ensured Wednesday had the bragging rights for a good while at least.

'I cannot tell you how much of a blow it is to lose to our biggest rivals, and it will be hard to live with because it is the worst feeling ever. If there is a game that we cannot afford to lose it is this one,' he said.

'We won't be able to sleep for days, not until the next game, and if it doesn't hurt us we shouldn't be managers and players.'

He continued: 'At the end of the day we have lost to a world class strike that would be hailed the world over if it had been scored by Ronaldinho. Credit to Tudgay, he meant it and I was right behind it and knew it was going into the top corner.

'I am not going to hammer the players, they have been magnificent all season and got back quickly after the early shock.'

Better luck next time, Kevin...

Oh i love to hear Blackwell's comments and when i saw him on TV i really thought he was going to cry!! :) It's going to be harder to take next season Kevin :) :) :)
will it ever happen
ha ha "defeat is not an option!" blackwells comments on radio sheffield this week, I have always said sheff u live in a fantasy world I think wednesday have better quality in several areas of the team but still they think they are superior and do not realise just how average they are saturdays performance again underlined what I have just said, maybe they thought we go there and be scared or intimidated and that was just not the case they had no creative spark no ideas and no presence in midfield so could only resort to hoofing it up to the strikers, anyway I could go on and on and I look forward to the rest of the season, Donny is gonna be a massive test for us because of some of the results they have been picking up, but again we will go there with confidence and I'm sure get a result UTO!
BIG TONY
Donny will be a much much harder test than the pigs. At least Donny try to play football.
