Simek Returns For Wednesday Reserves

Defender Frank Simek showed signs of steady progression after a lengthy injury lay-off to play 70 minutes in the Owls reserves' victory at Port Vale this afternoon.

A superb Luke Boden goal was enough to give the Owls a slender 1-0 victory over Vale in the reserve match, which was played this afternoon.

But the more positive news came from the fact that American right-back Simek came through unscathed in his bid to return to first team action sooner rather than later.

Left-back Peter Gilbert was also involved in the clash, while midfielder Sean McAllister played 75 minutes as Wednesday did the double over Vale in reserve outings.

But Owls fans could well be concerned at the absence of striker Akpo Sodje, who wasn't in the reserve squad.

It's likely that Saturday's home clash with Crystal Palace will prove too early for Simek's first team return.

What is wrong with Akpo? Just seems this injury is going on forever!

I was thinking exactly the same Gilley. When he went down, it did not look too serious. then we hear that he may be back to face the piggies, then nothing! does anyone have any idea?

Don't get me wrong he's the strongest player we have and he's not ready then he's not ready but i thought he would be getting time in the reserves and I thought as well as you Dobby he'd be back for the crunch match! Another thing which is getting to me lately is our consistancy I know we've never been the most consistant team but beating the pigs on there own back door then getting 0 points from two games which we realisticly should have got 4 at the least! Will we turn up on Sat against Palace or will we get off to another alwful start and not be able to get back in the game?
Gilley21
Akpo is going to be another two weeks yet before he is ready. I think you will find it is to do with Alan Smith making sure that he is 100% fit and nothing else.
Skeggy Owl
then he will need a couple of reserve outings,so we are looking at least middle of march before he's in first eleven, we need a goalscorer now,not in a month time going on the past two games.

I completely agree with Gilley, on all accounts. What an intellectual viewpoint! You should be prime minister....or even better, Wednesday manager!

I totally agree with you too crose. We've all had many frustarting years with the mighty owls but hopeful next season will be the start of the new owl generation! I'm not going to lie but i fear the worst for our boys on Sat lacking at the back with injuries!
