Aussie Owl?

Wednesday have produced their fair share of youngsters through the Academy of late, but they're also looking further afield for the future.

Highly-rated Australian youngster Rhyan Scriggins has been offered the chance to join the Wednesday Academy - at 11 years of age,

Wednesday are one of a host of English clubs looking at bringing the Queensland youngster over to England as one for the future.

But although the Owls are thought to be leading the pack, their latest offer has been put on hold by the youngster as he looks to weigh up his future in the game.

'We talked about the Sheffield Wednesday offer, but knocked it on the head for the time being,' his father, Stefan told the Courier Mail.

'Rhyan is only 11. Basically, he's still scared of the dark . . . he has plenty of time.'

Rhyan is the son of Australian Olympian boxer Stefan Scriggins, who is the cousin of former England ace Terry Butcher.

Manchester City and Bolton Wanderers are the other English clubs to have shown an interest so far, with the youngster set to decide his fate before the summer.
