McArdle Returns From Loan Spell
Young Wednesday defender Rory McArdle has returned to Hillsborough following his successful loan spell at League Two side Rochdale.
McArdle joined Dale in the summer and despite making a slow start to his career at Spotland, notched up 17 appearances for the club, scoring one goal.
The 18-year-old told the official Rochdale site: 'It is a little dissapointing going back at this stage of the season, but I had no choice because of the 93 day ruling. I'd like to thank everyone at the club for making me more than welcome over the last seven or eight months.'
The youngsters debut came in Dale's 2-0 victory over Mansfield Town back in september as a substitute. Since then he went on to become a regular at Spotland, even bagging his first senior goal in a 3-1 victory away at Macclesfield Town.
McArdle continued: 'I didn't know what to expect when I first arrived at the club but I have to say from day one I've been welcomed in the dressing room. I got on well with everyone since I arrived in the summer and I have learnt a hell of a lot at my time at Spotland.'
Good news for Owls boss Paul Sturrock then, as one of the brighter prospects from the Wednesday academy comes through his loan spell with flying colours. The youngster isn't likely to break in to the Owls first team anytime soon, but he's sure to be one to look out for in the future.
