Gilbert Blow Deepens

Owls left-back Peter Gilbert has been dealt a devastating blow with the news that he is likely to miss the rest of 2006 through a cruciate knee injury.

Vital Sheffield Wednesday brought you the news that the former Leicester City man will miss the rest of the season after picking up an injury against Wolves at the weekend, but the news has got much worse following scans.

Owls boss Paul Sturrock told the official SWFC site that the news was a devastating blow to both Gilbert and the club.

The club initially thought the tear was only small and hoped to have Gilbert back fit for the new season, but scans have shown that the tear is much deeper and will keeper him out for the rest of the year.

Vital Sheffield Wednesday wishes Gilbert all the best in his recovery, and we hope to see him back in a blue and white shirt before the year is out.
