Owls In Bid For Villa's Harewood

Wednesday boss Brian Laws is trying to get Aston Villa striker Marlon Harewood at Hillsborough on loan according to reports in today's papers.

Laws has already revealed that he's looking to bolster his injury-ravaged squad, even more so in light of the latest setback to striker Akpo Sodje.

And the Daily Mirror is today reporting that Laws is looking towards former West Ham hitman Harewood to solve his problems.

But the Owls face competition for his services, with his former club Nottingham Forest also in the chase as they look to avoid relegation from the Championship.

And Forest will be favourites for his signature given his past with the City Ground club.

Both clubs are said to have made loan bids for the 29-year-old for a month.

no doubt he can score in the championship, would give us a real threat up front I'd have him

hope that is true, he has a good heart and deserves first team football, he is one of a few players MON brought in (when most thought it was madness) only not to really get played.

would definately take him, but it'll take a masterstroke of persuasion from mr laws to make him come here over forest, though saying that, what striker wants to join a relegation dogfight?

Do we actually need him this season though, especially given the wages he'll most likely be on? We're not going up and we're not going down - don't see the point.

Nickswfc makes a good point, if we bought him in with a view to signing him next season then go get him mr laws but if it's just for this season I can't see the point, we need 2 points to ensure safety and cannot get the 74 points it would probably take to make the playoffs. He is the type of player we are missing, a goalscorer, but it's probably 2 months to late for this season.

Totally agree with the idea of a loan with a view to a permanent move. Knowing BL he'd be able to persuade him to sign, but the loan is not a sure thing with Forest in the hunt.
