'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Wednesday Old Boy Flying High

Grant Holt hit the headlines last night when he was named League Two Player Of The Year at the fourth Football League Awards in London.

The Shrewsbury Town striker (and former Owl) has netted 18 league goals so far this term, and a highlight of a sparkling season in front of goal came in a Trophy match vs. Wycombe in October, Holt blasting five of seven past the hapless Wanderers.

Since leaving Wednesday, Holt has had successful spells at Rochdale (above), Forest (where latterly he and Colin Calderwood never perhaps quite saw eye to eye) and now the Shrews. He never quite hit the heights at S6, but is terrorising defences in the lower leagues, and has a canny knack for scoring on debut. According to Four Four Two magazine, he's got a pretty good engine too: he covers more ground than anyone in the bottom two divisions.

Nice work, fella!
