Owls v United - In Malta?

Owls v United - In Malta?

Wednesday and United could already be planning their first Steel City derby match of the season this summer - in Malta.

According to media reports, Brian Laws and his men are set to travel to the holiday island in July for a pre-season tour.

And that could involve a clash with rivals Sheffield United, with the the Blades - sponsored by the Malta Tourism Authority - also planning on some time there in pre-season.

The news could see both teams on the island at the same time - prompting a mouth-watering derby clash in the heat.

Wednesday are also expected to play two matches in the Malta National Stadium to make it a three-game tour this summer.

The Owls have already confirmed the date of their summer pre-season trip for July 13 and have also revealed that it'll be a family orientated trip to try and get as many Wednesdayites over as possible.

The club are set to confirm details of their pre-season trip early next week.

What are you on about Ecco - do we not like the rivalry? I reckon it's a great move. Another opportunity to remind them who the better side is...
