'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Laws Bemoans 'Pub Football'

Wednesday boss Brian Laws was left fuming after seeing his troops let slip a two-goal lead to fall to defeat at Queens Park Rangers on Easter Monday.

Laws likened the Owls' defending to that of a 'pub football' side as sloppy defending allowed manager-less R's to claw back from two goals down to net three second-half goals and grab all three points.

'Our defending was like pub football and QPR could have been ahead in the first half because they hit the post twice but once we were in front we should never have given the game away so easily,' he told www.swfc.co.uk.

'The last two goals we gave away were pretty much identical because they were headers from corners where our players thought they had done their defensive jobs properly but they obviously hadn't.'

In his interview with BBC Radio Sheffield, the Owls gaffer also insisted captain Richard Wood wasn't injured when he took him off at half-time for Mark Beevers, indicating the boss wasn't happy with the centre-backs display.

Laws will no doubt be ringing the changes, whether it be with his players, or tactically, for this weekend's visit of relegation threatened Southampton.
