'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Squeaky Bum Time For Ridsdale

A massive travelling support of 5500 Bluebirds fans will head for Hillsborough on Sunday, and Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale realises the crucial nature of the clash with the Owls.

Cardiff have just one point from their last three games, thumped 3-0 last week by Roy Keane's Tractor Boys and under pressure to maintain their playoff placing, challenged by a resurgent Preston and Burnley.

Ridsdale is getting his rabble-rousing 'we must fight them on the beaches' speech in early: 'This is a time for cool heads - our destiny is still in our hands. Both Preston North End and Burnley would prefer to be in our position right now.'

'Over the last seven matches we have taken 11 points from a possible 21. People are concerned our record over the last three games is a disaster and we certainly wanted better, but now is the time to stick together and back the players with everything we have. We have worked over a long time to be in this position.' he told the South Wales Echo.

'The players are hurting as well. They know what has to be done at Hillsborough on Sunday - and they will do anything needed to ensure we are in the play-offs. We haven't come this far to blow it now.'

It should be an atmospheric end of season encounter, with Brian Laws' men keen to sign off in style and give the home fans something to shout about.
