Lucas Out Until Christmas

Owls boss Paul Sturrock has received yet another injury blow with the news that 'keeper David Lucas has been ruled out for upto eight months.

The former Preston North End stopper was initially ruled out for the rest of the season, but it now seems his knee injury will keep him out upto Christmas.

Paul Sturrock told the Yorkshire Post: 'David has done a good job for us and I appreciate that he has given good service, but he will not play again until Christmas. In any circumstances, I need to have another goalkeeper in place at the start of next season.'

The injury is a crippling blow to Lucas, who has already suffered two knee injurys in as many years.

His contact is up in the summer, and Sturrock will have to decide whether to extend his contract or to let him go at the end of the season.

He continued: 'We can't make any plans for next season until we know what division we're in. You can't give contracts until you know the budget.'
