4 Youngsters Turn Pro at Hillsborough

Sheffield Wednesday have announced today that professional contracts have been handed to Callum Harrison, Nick Wood, Max Wragg and Charlie Tunnard.

Nick Wood is a centre-back like his older brother, Owls skipper Richard. Max Wragg is a tough tackling full-back who has already featured on the Owls bench this season. Striker Charlie Tunnard and central midfielder Callum Harrison make up the quartet.

All four are locally born and although not expected to be immediately part of the first-team picture, their progress will continue under the eyes of Sean McAuley and Reserve team manager John Dungworth.

Their professional deals will run one year and see them pick up more reserve team experience and possibly loan periods elswhere to aid their development.

This news is testament to Sean McAuley's youth programme at Hillsborough. The number of scholars turned in to professionals during his reign is now well in to double figures, as Wednesday enjoy possibly their most fruitful period in terms of youth development in their history.

For the youngsters released, all of us here at Vital wish them luck in any career they go on to pursue.
