Wembley For Owls' Old Boys

With all respect, the League Two play-offs may not whet the appetite for Owls' fans - but today's clash between Bury and Shrewsbury had four former Wednesday players involved.

Steve Haslam, Brian Barry-Murphy, Graham Coughlan and Grant Holt were all involved in today's second leg clash between Bury and the Shrews at Gigg Lane, which Shrewsbury won on penalties.

That means Grant Holt and Graham Coughlan, both first team regulars for Paul Simpson's Town side are set for an appearance at Wembley later this month in the play-off final.

Barry-Murphy was on the scoresheet for the hosts, opening the spot kick scoring after Shrewsbury scored a late goal to level the aggregate scores in normal time.

There could be more former Owls making the trip to the League Two play-off final, with Rory McArdle part of the Rochdale side that takes on Gillingham tonight.
