Owls Secure Tudgay Future

Wednesday boss Brian Laws has secured what could arguably be his signing of the summer by giving top scorer Marcus Tudgay a new three-year contract at S6.

The Owls' player-of-the-year, who bagged 14 goals in the blue and white stripes last season, has been linked with a number of clubs given his top form through the 2008-09 campaign.

But Laws has moved quickly to get the former Derby County striker to extend his Hillsborough stay with a three-year deal.

'I am delighted that Marcus has agreed to a new three-year contract with Sheffield Wednesday,' Laws told www.swfc.co.uk.

'Marcus epitomises what I want from all of my players in that he is a committed and dedicated professional who never gives anything less than his all on matchdays or on the training pitch.'

Tudgay top scored for the Owls last season and bagged the player-of-the-year gong, as well as goal of the season award for his match winning strike against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

And the news will delight Wednesdayites, who've enjoyed a good couple of days following the signing of Cardiff City's Darren Purse.

brilliant news!
BIG TONY
Now that is a good signing. Finally showing a clinical finish to his abundance of skill. Thing is he is a great striker to have alongside a prolific striker. I also think getting rid of Burton has helped him as the were too similar ( although Tudders much better). If we could bet a strong attacker next to him - a bit like a Sodje but proven, consistant and not injury prone. Dont know who but definitely not Danny Webber.
