Owls On The BBC

This seems to be one that's passed us by here at Vital - and it may have passed you by too - but the Owls could see matches screened live on the BBC from next season.

The BBC have bagged the rights to screen ten live Championship matches from 2010 in a new deal which is worth £88 million to Football League clubs.

The news is no doubt old - so old, in fact, that many fans won't remember the deal being struck back in 2007.

The new deal runs until 2012 and although Wednesday fans may still be dreaming of appearing on Match Of The Day, they could still see their beloved Owls on the BBC next term.

The deal is equivalent to almost a game a month, with the BBC likely to mark down the top matches from the fixture calendar.

Wednesday could well grab a live TV date should Sheffield United fail to gain promotion to the Premier League - with a Steel City Derby sure to whet the appetite.

The BBC Sport website will also show goals from all Football Legaue matches.

Sky will still screen 65 matches from the Football League, as well as still having exclusive rights to the Play-Off finals.

Not seen anything on that - but I hope so. Would presume that if the highlights are moving to the BBC Sport website.
