'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Welcome, Newcastle United!

The final day of the Premier League saw Newcastle United, Middlesbrough and West Brom all relegated to the Championship for next season.

The Baggies were already doomed going into 'Survival Sunday', but Newcastle and Middlesbrough both had chances to get out of trouble at the expense of Hull City and Sunderland.

But it was something they couldn't manage as all four clubs in trouble fell to defeat, seeing Alan Shearer's Newcastle and Middlesbrough both doomed for the drop.

It'll be the first time in a number of years that Wednesday will have come up against Boro and the Magpies, and no doubt Wednesdayites will be looking forward to making the trips to St James' Park and The Riverside Stadium respectively.

Scunthorpe United will also come up against Brian Laws and his men next term after the Iron secured promotion to the Championship with a 3-2 victory over Millwall in the League One Play-Off final.

they are in a heap of trouble i can see them having a real tough time of it next season same goes for boro wouldn't it be nice to see newcastle drop into league 1 the season after next
aussie2005
there has to be a mass exodus of players there, doubt they can afford all the wages-i would say its a certainty now that owen will leave.
supersibon
owens contract is up looking through thier squad there aren't that many who will stay. Those that they need to move on won't command big transfer fees so i can see some serious struggles ahead for nufc
aussie2005
they will have won this league by christmas. jesus what a hard hard league this is going to be next season. god i pray we go up 2mors cus we arn't going up next season with the quality being relegated. forget your midtable hopes too lads!!
bladesforlife1889
bfl comments like that show how truly niave you are newcastle have no chance of winning this league next season they wont even finish in the top 6 on a side note im looking forward to the derby next season another easy six points because you lot arent going to win tommorow
aussie2005
Newcastle will implode over the summer, expect a mass exodus and much finger pointing as well as a chairman wondering what happened to the money. That being said, it would be naive not to expect them to be a force next season. West Brom will be strong opposition to but watch Middlesboro as they will have trouble attracting signings and look the most likely to do a Charlton (Leeds, Forest or ourselves...you see what I'm saying). Oh and BFL, yes you do need to hope you go up this season......but don't hold your breath.
robc
robc newcastle will do the same as boro watch out they could well be on thier way to league 1

think aussie has given us the luck with that comment - cheers piggy xxxxxxxxx

I have to say, I agree with BFL. I think Newcastle will dominate the league next season. Yes, there'll be an exodus of players but whether we like it or not, they're a big club. They'll bring in some decent players. Newcastle for the title in my opinion, but that won't stop us pushing for the play-offs.

its good news for me, i live in newcastle, in fact i work right next to the ground, we regularly get sky sports news interviewing people outside the branch. the general concensus is that nufc are *****ed off, really *****ed off. i know quite alot that have taken the option to cancel their season tickets. i predict a 4th place finish for them. they will be everyones cup final.

I live in Newcastle to Ozzie and have been out in town today and the place is like a morgue!! On a brighter note, I see bfl isnt on here spouting off anymore!! See ya next season Porkie!!

he is crying himself to sleep another easy six points for the biggest team in sheffield come on you blue and white wizzards
aussie2005
ah well im off to work now gonna see how the geordies are, i work in a bar so will be able to get a good cross section.
ozzietheowl
Wonder if BFL went to the match........all those empty seats....shocking support. Looking forward to seeing Newcastle next season. Think what you like about the team but their fans, like Wednesdayites will be backing their team next season.
The Owler
gluttons for punishment they will vote with thier feet next season when they are getting beaten and facing the real prospect of a mid table or lower finish in the CCC the will chop and change managers in the hope of instant success but it wont happen
