Fry Tips Hammers' Sears For Owls

Peterborough United's Barry Fry has given the biggest indication yet that Wednesday are set to sign West Ham hot shot Freddie Sears on loan.

Owls boss Brian Laws has kept tight-lipped over his signings for the new season, but the young Hammers talent has been rumoured to be moving to Hillsborough for 2009-10.

And Fry has today revealed that Sears is set for a move to Wednesday after turning down the chance to play for the Posh next season.

On missing out on Sears, Fry told the Peterborough Evening Telegraph: 'He made it clear he was keen to come here, but West Ham have blocked the move and told him he has to go to Sheffield Wednesday.'

Laws has hinted that he was looking at a season long loan for a Premier League striker.

And it looks as though Sears is his man, but the club have yet to make any announcement regarding a move.

swfcjambo
no thanks!!!!!

It's a done deal if this is to be believed!! Not a bad scoring record for the reserves - 25 in 24 games. Could be one that comes through during a season with us! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freddie_Sears
SuperOwls
he would be an excellent signing, pace and skill, he would be a superb partner to either sodje or tudgay

If Barry Fry (the owner of Peterborough United) say he pefers Peterborough to us, then it must be true. After all, what vested interest has he got in making any claims to the contrary? To me this looks like a great signing. Hopefully it will be confirmed very soon!

A lot of responsibility on a young lads shoulders i'm not sure about this one, remember the young lad from chelsea that did'nt work.

diffrent kettle of fish, smith was totally unproven, this kid has the ability no question just needs time on the pitch. plus the youth set up at west ham is one of the best
mansfieldowl
why does it say on that wikipedia link that Sears has agreed to join Barnsley on loan? who's to be believed?! I live down south (unfortunately) and are mates with a fair few hammers, who dont rate him in prem but think he'll do a good job in championship. Let's just hope its for us and not the dingles!

I don't know, is this kid the answer to our striking needs? If he is I'll accept that I'm wrong but I'd rather see us pursue a player who would actually want to play for and sign for Wednesday. That and he looks about 12.

it said he was joining us when i looked now it says nothing, never believe wikipedia anyone can change and edit info. Good signing if he does come reckon he could do a frazier campbell
wesp
He's got loads of pace so as long as he's enthusiastic and committed I can't see why he wouldn't really suit us, he's more likely to chase a lost cause than 'FA cup ears' Jeffers.

would be great to see sears playing for us next season even if its only on a loan deal

Barry Fry is a total ****. My housemate is a season ticket holder at West Ham who rates Sears highly, although he is only young and needs experience. Very optimistic. Did I mention Fry is a ****? A very, very poor man's BFR
HootingMad
I work with one of West Hams chief stewards and he rates him very highly. He reckons that he has a good eye for goal but gets knocked off the ball too easily but will be a good player in the championship. If he signs he reckons he will easily get 15-20 goals in a full season, he backed this up with a £50 bet.
BedfordOwl
He will do for me.
CLIFFANDJ
no question hes a good player and might get goals but would like to see a proven striker from the champ come in. if we sign him and he dose a good job i will gladly eat my own words
dublin owl
young lad keen to impress his employers bring him in plus it might give the rest of our strikers a much needed kick up the a**e
bradford_owl
I hope he proves me wrong, but can't help thinking about the lad from Chelsea who's name i can't remember, he did very little for us, just thought Brian would have gone for someone with experience, anyway west ham are my favorite premiership club they've had some great players in the past like tevez.
ecco owl
Tevez should be knighted for what he done to the Pigs
