Would Woody Or Wouldn't He?

Now that Coventry City have a Scott Dann sized hole in their back four, it's inevitable that talk of a transfer involving Richard Wood resurfaces.

England Under-21 international Dann made a £3.5 million pound move to Premiership returnees Birmingham City, and with that kind of money burning a hole in Chris Coleman's pocket, and historical interest from the Sky Blues, the Owls central defender is the logical replacement. Logical if you believe paper talk, that is. Add to that the Owls acquisition of Darren Purse to fill any unexpected gap in the squad, and the gossip columns are desperately trying to put two and two together.

There's allegedly further interest in Wood from Crystal Palace, Ipswich and even our neighbours across the city (the sale of Kilgallon the rumour there), but there'll be no real indication of Woody's intentions until he returns from holiday and resumes discussions with Brian Laws over a new contract, having one year left on his existing deal. Wednesday, for their part, insist that no one will be sold.
