Owls Fans To Go West

Wednesday fans will be able to enjoy a fresh taste of Hillsborough next season with the club announcing the use of the West Stand for home supporters.

Owls fans were placed in the West Stand upper tier a number of times last season as part of an initiative to give local schoolchildren free entry to Wednesday matches in the second half of the season.

And the idea proved so successful that the club are going to continue to use the Leppings Lane end for home supporters next season when possible.

Chief executive Nick Parker told the Sheffield Star: 'We are trying to bring the north west corner back into play; it's been off limits recently we are generally trying to make it more versatile in the west stand.

'According to the number of away supporters we anticipate, we would be able to mix that stand with away and home' said Parker.

The idea would see teams with relatively low travelling support have the North-West corner stand, with home fans occupying the West Stand.

The corner hasn't been used in recent seasons, but the availability of extra seats would also allow extra income when teams with big travelling supports visit S6.
