Burnley Tudgay Talks Heat Up

Wednesday boss Brian Laws has stressed he wants to keep Marcus Tudgay at S6 as Burnley look to close in on the striker.

The Clarets offered 1.5 million for the services of the Owls' top scorer and player of the season last term, an offer which Laws believes is too low for the striker.

And Laws told the Yorkshire Post that he wants to build a team around the former Derby man next season, highlighting his importance to the team.

Laws revealed he's held talks with Burnley boss Owen Coyle but said they'd need to offer a 'damned sight more money than has been quoted to prise him away (from Wednesday).'

But Tudgay's agent, former Owl Darryl Powell, has indicated that the player would like to talk to the Turf Moor side should the Owls accept their offer.

The 26-year-old insisted he'd be signed a new three-year deal with the club at the end of last season, but is still to put pen-to-paper on the contract.

This one's going to run a while...

I'd hate him to go, a proven 100% player should be worth triple what's been offered and Burnley know it, well done Lawsy for sticking out for more if he does have to sell
Brighton Owl
Is he really Premiership quality thought?
A t too far Bamber? If he does go, and it looks like his agent is in the driving seat (though I do admire BL's stand), 1.5 is nowhere near enough.
4 Million and it's a deal!!
I agree..... bare minimum should have to be 3 million, if not more. Burnley really are a load of cheeky feckers....
US Owl
if tudgay realy has said he wants to talk to burnley and is going back on his word to sign a new contract let him go , theres nothing i cant stand more than players who go back on there word! hes obviously not to botherd about playing for us an like laws said no one is irreplaceble!
Don't you think it's a case of Darryl Powell is trying to sell him, so lets tell him to feck off instead.
ecco owl
im with ecco, fecking agents ruin football
3 mill min and lets go get varney
Yes i'll have some of that wedtillidie
ecco owl
So his agent has revealed that he would like the chance to talk to Burnley ! All I can say that he cant love Wednesday as much as he was making out. If he's actually thinking about going then I say get rid. Sorry guys but I would like to see players at the club that are actually committed.
Skeggy Owl
According to Star web page it looks like any potential deal is off after Burnley have signed a striker from Hibs for 3 mill. Lets hope thats true. Don't want anything to get in the way of our automatic promotion this year.
Radon Barrier
By the way ecco owl you are right about darryl powell. He wasn't even a good player for us.
Radon Barrier
darryl powell is a footballing cretin.
if he wants to go let him get as much money as we can and move on lets not get upset about it lads its been done before even if we dont like it CB and GW spring to mind if AKPO can stay fit and others chip in with goals and we use the money to buy a 20 goal a season striker he wont be missed and we might be going one way and him the other by the end of the season lets hope so anyway...
dublin owl
nice bit of legal a**e covering Ozzie
Well, vassell and hamann released by man city today, those 2 added to out squad could just see us in the automatic spot?
I think Vassell could do a great job for us. Ive been an admirer of his, as a football player, for a long time. And he couldnt do any worse than what we have already got.
Skeggy Owl
I actually think Hamann would be an outstanding player for us, but we can't afford his wages!! As for Burnley, Radon, they were talking about buying the guy from Hibs as well as Tudders, but they originally offered less for the Scottish guy.
US Owl
let him go if they still want him and use the money to bring Phillips in.
hamann and vassel would be bang on us for us, think it could happen???
I cant see it happening, we wouldnt be able to get anywhere near their wage demands
