Coyle Still In For Tudgay

Burnley boss Owen Coyle has revealed that a deal is still in place for Wednesday striker Marcus Tudgay.

The Clarets have shown a big interest in taking Wednesday's top scorer last season to Turf Moor since bagging promotion to the Premier League.

But Owls boss Brian Laws has swept aside speculation surrounding Tudgay's future, insisting he's set to sign a new three-year deal at Hillsborough and has laughed off the £1.5m price tag.

But Coyle has insisted that the Clarets' deal is still on the table should Laws and Wednesday make a u-turn on letting Tudgay leave.

"We thought it was a very fair offer and it is still there if Wednesday want to take us up on it,' he said.

Tudgay could well be tempted with the offer of Premier League football and just one more year left on his current deal at S6.

But Laws is keen to keep last season's player of the year as he looks to build a squad capable of achieving the play-offs next term.

I really hope Tudders stays, but I think the lure of prem football (and inevitable hike in wages) will be too much.

I just want to see it sort one way or another now so we can at least get another decent striker in.

Just hate it when i read, 'player agrees new deal, will sign when he returns from holiday', always think the worst! hope he stays true to his word but if he wants to leave i think we'll probably take between 1.5m and 2m for him as thats all he's worth with a year left on his contract. its why brunt left for 2.5m and whelan left for 500k, between all three id say there was nearly 10m worth of talent! Come on Tuggy, be loyal!

Damn Right NicNac!! Tudders is worth more than that!

How can Coyle keep a straight face when he says £1.5m is a fair offer, next he'll be tempting Fergie with a £5m offer for Rooney!!How about a straight swop for Martin Paterson??
sussexowl
Good one sussex, but he is a scotsman, I know if he really wants to do a deal we'll swap him for paterson, mc'cann and eagles that seems a good deal yer tight git.
ecco owl

tudders would be mad to leave wednesday burnley are relegation fodder its a nailed on cert
aussie2005
mad or not no news on him signing the contract so that would point to him being interested in going. get what we can and bring phillips in on loan for a season, sure it would boost season ticket sales too.
