Owls Reject Malta Striker

Wednesday have turned down the chance to sign Malta international striker Etienne Barbara after he failed to impress during a trial with the club.

Owls boss Brian Laws had invited the hitman to train with the Owls during their pre-season tour of Malta last week, and also feature in matches alongside the current Owls squad.

But Barbara won't be pulling on the famous blue and white stripes next season after Laws decided against offering him a deal.

Laws told the Sheffield Star that Barbara 'wasn't far' from what he's looking at bringing in to bolster the Owls squad for the forthcoming Championship campaign.

The Wednesday boss will continue his search for a new striker to bag the goals on home soil after returning home with the rest of the squad yesterday.
