France Set To Reject Owls

Former Hull City man Ryan France is set to turn down the chance to play for his hometown club after receiving tempting offers from other clubs.

France looked nailed on to be wearing the famous blue and white stripes next term after impressing boss Brian Laws on trial.

But it seems, after the Owls offered him a deal at S6, that France could well be looking elsewhere after new clubs showed their interest in his services.

Laws revealed that the offer Wednesday made to France was one in-line with a knee problem that the club have noticed during his time at the club.

Laws said: 'Our offer to Ryan reflected this risk because the club has a policy to protect themselves from any financial risks now and in the future. I wish Ryan all the best wherever he goes.'

It's though Plymouth Argyle are also interested in the versatile player.

Laws has spoken about squad development on the SWFC web site today. Woods & Spurr contract talks deferred until later in the year. Doesn't sound like we will be getting an additional striker either! Not exactly a positive note on which to start the season.

Financial risk ? Is that the clubs way of saying we cant afford him. I thinks its honourable the way the club have got him fit for somebody else !

Shame, I like the thought of players who support Wednesday wearing the stripes but if he does have a knee problem the last thing we want is another booking for the injury suite.

A no brainer for the lad really, he was worried he might have to brush up his painting skills if he went to rustborough.
