Owls Heading In Right Direction

Wednesday boss Brian Laws insists his men are heading in the right direction after holding Premier League side Hull City to a draw at Hillsborough on Saturday.

The Owls had a number of chances to pick up the bragging rights in the pre-season clash with Phil Brown's men, with Laws admitting his front men were a bit 'rusty' in front of goal.

But as the close season nears ever closer to the Owls' opening clash of the season at home to Barnsley in less than two weeks' time, Laws is confident his strikers will find their form.

'We saw plenty of the ball and created some good chances and with a little more composure in front of goal we could have won the game,' Laws told the official SWFC website.

'But I have every confidence that by the time the Barnsley game comes round, the strikers will have shaken off that little bit of ring rust.'

Leon Clarke and Marcus Tudgay started the clash with the Tigers in attack, while Akpo Sodje and Luke Boden came on as substitutes to add their firepower to the home attack.

I think Akpo and Leon, who I think is going to have a very good season, should be our first chice strike partnership.
