So...Is That It?

So...Is That It?

Contrary to a belief here at Vital Sheffield Wednesday that Brian Laws was going to bring a new striker to the club - is the Owls boss now happy with what he has?

Vital understood that Laws would be adding a striker to bolster his squad before the big Championship kick-off against a Barnsley in just over a week's time.

Indeed, Laws seemed to make a new number nine his prime target at the start of pre-season, with Wednesday missing out on young West Ham star Freddie Sears to Crystal Palace, and also showing a keen interest in Everton hitman Victor Anichebe.

So...is that it?

Has Laws given up his chase of bolstering his attack, given his delight with the current crop of strikers in the pre-season games so far?

Akpo Sodje, Francis Jeffers, Marcus Tudgay and Leon Clarke have bagged their fair share of goals over the 'summer' months, and although the quartet would make a decent selection in the Wednesday attack, injuries and a possible departure of Tudgay has to be taken into consideration.

We all know finances are tight, after missing out on ouur 16,500 target for season ticket sales, which seem to have had an impact on the amount of cash Laws has to play with.

And with just over a week to go before the start of the season, Laws is leaving it late to add another name to the squad.

It's the Wednesday way isn't it, leaving it late?

The latest quotes coming out of Hillsborough from Laws suggest he's happy with what he's got, asking for another '10 per cent' from his current squad to improve on last season.

Let's just hope there are no injuries to contend with in the next week.

I guess we can all expect more speculation before the Barnsley game, but hey, there's only one week of it to go!

well as much as i like his work effort i think he has to leave because this squad is just going to be the same as last season i think. £2mill+ for him and bring in 2/3 players would do the trick i would think!!! would luv saganowski though although i tend to agree with skeggy

im not so sure about the prospects this season. We were playoff material last season. We just need to learn how to turn the fantastic home defence we had into a fantastic away defense also. The problem up front was the injuries we had. IF we avoid the ridiculous amounts of injuries we have had to deal with for the last few seasons then we have a chance!! Its all relative though. Talk, ifs, and buts are one thing but the performance on the pitch is something completely different.
