'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Wednesdayites' Tudgay Delight

The news of Marcus Tudgay penning a new four-year deal with Wednesday gave Owls fans a welcome boost ahead of the new campaign, not least on the Vital Sheffield Wednesday forums.

Some Owls fans were admitting defeat in keeping last season's player of the year at Hillsborough after Burnley tempted him with a move to the Premier League.

And with just a year left to run on his previous deal at S6, it seemed Tudgay's future looked more likely to be at Turf Moor rather than in the famous blue and white shirts.

But the news of the former Derby County hitman committing his future to the Owls was a huge boost for Wednesdayites on a god news day at S6, coming just hours before the announcement of an 'imminent' 20m investment and ground upgrading at Wednesdayite's annual general meeting.

Here's what the Vital Sheffield Wednesday members had to say about it...

carlton owl: superb news, now lets get behind brian and the team, the squad is better the pre season looks to have gone well, the set up behind the scenes is better. roll on august 8th.

Smurf: I honestly knew he wouldn't go to Burnley. Well done Tudders, glad you saw sense.

BIG TONY: brilliant news, hopefully this will give everyone a big lift again about this season

rickyclark: ccccmmmoooonnn, get in there, good news, all we need is to keep every bugger fit and hopefully we can push for the playoffs this year. UTO!

trustout: fantastic news, what was the whole powell thing about lol, nice one tudders, think shows where tudders thinks burnley will be next season too. If a higher profile club had come in it may have been different. 1 down 2 to go.

aussie2005: fantastic news come on tommy and richard follow suit put pen to paper on a new 4 year deal each

dobby1: this is excellent news. I have no doubt that this time last year we would have taken the money. It does seem that the new regime are showing much more ambition and we can look forward to a brighter future. Since France decided on the dark side, I have been feeling a bit depressed about our prospects, but this is a real indication that we are on the right road at last!

US Owl: Thank God for that!!! I'm relieved that he's signed, but it seemed to take for ever!

supersibon: must admit i was looking forward for us having the opportunity to be able to bring in a couple more players but like every1 else has said its definatley good news, now all we need now is for wood and spurr to show the kind of loyalty tudders has shown us and that will be brilliant!!!
