'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Laws Has 'Very Small Pot' Of Cash

Wednesday boss Brian Laws has revealed he still has a 'very small pot' of cash to use to bolster his squad but admits he's in no rush to use it.

Laws was present alongside Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell and other local football managers at BBC Radio Sheffield's Football League Live broadcast tonight.

And he was asked if penning Tudgay to a new deal meant Wednesday would miss out on bringing a new striker to the club.

Laws replied by insisting that Tudgay's four-year deal has had no impact on his budget, and that he still has a 'very small pot' at his disposal at present.

But it didn't sound like the Owls boss was in a rush to spend it, insisting he's happy with his squad going into the new season and that he'd only use it if necessary.

In the company of Barnsley boss Simon Davey, Laws also joked that he had no worries over knocks to Akpo Sodje and Leon Clarke.

But it's expected that both could be out of contention for the clash with the Tykes, leaving Wednesday with just two fit strikers.
