Spurs Target Beevers Swoop

Tottenham Hotspur are said to be weighing up a £2m bid for young Owls' defender Mark Beevers according to media reports tonight.

The Daily Mail are reporting Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has made a £2m offer for the Barnsley-born centre-back as he looks to continue his policy of taking young, British talent to White Hart Lane.

It may be more newspaper talk, but there's no smoke without fire, and Redknapp is said to be chasing an additional centre-back to add to his squad ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

Although being used mainly as a substitute at the end of last season, Beevers remains one of Wednesday's stars of the future after coming through the club's Academy ranks.

But it's though boss Brian Laws won't accept anything less than a £3m offer for the 19-year-old.

£2m would be tempting, £3m - let him go. As long as we spend it on new players, obviously.

guys when it comes to the daily mail and spurs, there IS smoke without fire, the media is doing everything it can to link us to any defender out there. Bassong, Samba and now Beevers. I don't really see this happening
RTY
We surely need a proven C Defender , not some 2 million dipstick from the lower leagues.
Stratty
...like Bassong - haha! :)

Be a waste of time going to a club like Spurs who'll just stick him in the reserves and stop his progress.

Skeggy Owl

taniban
He's a better player than them two-hats you've just sign from the pigs.
ecco owl
Nice to see that our chairman has just been online to deny the rumour!
nickswfc
we should be keeping the youngsters especially if investment is Imminent... good to see the chairman coming out straight away and squashing rumours !!

The only dipstick around here is you Pratty. Do you really think we are interested in your demaning comments. Stick on your own site unless you have something decent to say. Been watching arsenal on TV in pre season, they are looking a really good young team, best thing they couldhave done selling adebayopr. One more decent striker and they could challenge for either the prem or champions league.

Spurs have just signed Bassong this morning, so hopefully this rumour will disapear today!!
Bognor_Owl
2 million is nowhere near enough we dont need to sell so if they want him offer some real money

£2m? dont make me laugh. £5m and not a penny less.
Danigol_10_SWFC
Yet again, another tabloid rumour....... he's going nowhere and is worth at least twice as much as quoted anyway.....
US Owl
I'm not a massive fan of his, £3m and he can go for me. Far to big, slow and clumbsy. And for his size doesnt win anywhere near as much as he should in the way. i'd rather see purse, wood, hinds or buxton in the center.
