Laws Hopeful On Striker Deal

Laws Hopeful On Striker Deal

Wednesday boss Brian Laws is hoping his loan striker target gives Wednesday the nod to bolster the Owls' attacking options this week.

Laws has been looking to use his limited resources to bring a new striker to the club on a loan deal.

And he's been forced to step up his search in light of injuries to Akpo Sodje and Leon Clarke recently.

It's understood that Laws has already spoke with his target and agent and is expecting a decision to be made in time for the Owls' trip to Peterborough United on Saturday.

It's also thought that Wednesday are having to fend off competition from another Championship club for the striker's services.

Numerous names have been thrown into the hat, including Everton's Victor Anichebe and Wolves' Andy Keogh, who Laws has worked with at Scunthorpe United.

We need someone of quality, not someone who's just going to come in and 'plug a gap' until the other strikers are back. Anichebe would be brilliant

I agree, anichebe would be more than brilliant. its such a waste of talent having sodje injured all the time. he will be such a menace in this league if he can stay fit. sadly i think this will be his last season at the club if he doesnt get fit. dont rate that keogh at all though, id rather just take somebody out of the youth team than get him.

sodjes injury is unrelated to the treatment for his calf in summer, its just a freak injury, once hes got over this i think he,ll be injury free for a long time, definatly anichebe he will be a brilliant aqusition. id get rid of jeffers hes a total waste of money! what ever he had in his younger days he hasnt got now!

I don't know whether I'm too much of a pessimist, but I just can't see it being somebody as good as Anichebe...

On Seth bennetts facebook he states the striker to be "a few clues not a grizzled veteran and a player that the fans know from premier league" seems to rule out keogh for me.

I was just gonna say that I cant see it being any high profile loan signing, it'll probably be some guy under 20 yrs old whose only played a handfull of games and someone who we aint even heard of

So it's not a "grizzled" veteran and it's a player the fans know from the premier league? FFS, I hope it's not Jimmy Smith!! Wouldn't mind if it was the other youngster we had from Chelski though, but doesn't he play in Europe somewhere now?

Jimmy Smith plays for Layton Orient. He scored at the weekend.... and he's not a striker.
