Despite a narrow defeat at the hands of German team Arminia Bielefeld, the Owls progressed to the semi-final.

The stand-out performance for the starlets came in the semi-final against Brazillian team Botafogo. Following a 0-0 draw, the Owls won on penalties to progress to the final.
