Owls Ladies Hit For Four

Wednesday Ladies kicked-off their new campaign with a disappointing 4-0 reverse at their Manchester City counterparts at Flixton.

The Owls Ladies had enjoyed a successful pre-season both on and off the pitch, but suffered a set-back with their opening day loss.

City hit two either side of the break for their victory, while the visitors struggled to trouble the City goalkeeper.

Head Coach Dan Duke commented: 'We are massively disappointed with the performance today after a pre-season that bought so much hope.

'It looked like we had not kicked a ball together ever before. There is no excuse for the display today it was simply not good enough and everyone will have to pull their socks up if we are to fulfil our potential this year.

'On paper the squad that was picked today should be challenging any team in this league but these things happen in football.

'The ladies now have to prove to the staff, but especially themselves that they can come back from this defeat. There will have to be some hard work put in at training this week and we will all have to regroup before we play Aston Villa next Sunday at Worksop.'
