Owls' Jeffers Linked With Rovers

Wednesday striker Francis Jeffers has been linked with a move to Doncaster Rovers in this morning's media reports.

The former Everton and Arsenal man has endured a tough time in the famous blue and white stripes since moving to Hillsborough from Blackburn Rovers.

And according to Sky Sports News and The Sun, the 'fox in the box' is a target for Championship rivals Doncaster, with a figure believed to be around £500,000 mentioned.

But, contrary to the reports, Owls boss Brian Laws has revealed that he could be bringing Jeffers back into the Owls' starting line-up for the trip to Newcastle United tomorrow night.

Wednesday are already down on numbers in attack, and although a decent fee could tempt the Owls to sell, an offer needs to be forthcoming sooner rather than later, with the Owls keen to use any incoming cash to bolster their squad ahead of the transfer deadline.

Normally I would say that 500 thousand is a great offer and we should take it. Right now, I can't see that we can let him go unless we can bring someone in!
dobby1
SELL!!!
Danigol_10_SWFC
take the money, ONLY if we use it to replace him. having 3 strikers (only one of which is fit) + JJ will get us nowhere
charmer
SELL SELL SELL SELL we could replace him with me and score more
mansfieldowl
Same here, i'd bag 25 goals a season haha.
Danigol_10_SWFC
I would've normally defended the lad, as I do for the rest of the players and the club as a whole. But I think his goalscoring record has been, shall we say, less than disappointing... With the wages he's on and his obvious injury proneness, I say get rid... Use the money for Billy Sharp.
Carbone's Padawan
Wonder if thats why they kept him out on Saturday? Didn't want to get him injured?
CLIFFANDJ
£uk Billy Sharp hes a piggy fan and turned us dwn to go to piggy lane defo dnt want him.
ollyowl70
Im in the selling boat!!! get a decent fee and use the money to bring in someone like Kevin Phillips (not sayin him but someone like him) NOT Billy Sharp though i agree with Ollyowl70!!
Bognor_Owl
Anyone know when he's out of contract? I say sell - he's had enough time to prove himself and he's no come up with the goods!
SuperOwls
His contract is up at the end of this season I believe. I would say sell, but where are we going to get a decent replacement from at this late stage?
US Owl
Billy Sharp!!!!! are you havin a laugh. Blunts cant wait to ofload him. They'd be laughin all the way to the pork shop! Besides Jeffers is actually not injured at the moment and showed some some quality touches against Barnley. If he can keep fit for more than 2 matches he might actually do alright this season. Lets face it you cant get owt decent for £500K. We need a big lad up front to partner Tudgay, with EE and JJ on the wings. Just a thought, maybe trying out one of the defenders up front "remember Warhurst"
MightyWednesday
yes but defo not beevers lol,id bring one of the youngsters through and get him involved you never knw cud be a prayer answered.Look @ Man u wen they ad all kids playing n hansen saying u neva win owt wi kids and look wot happened.
ollyowl70
id snap there hands off to get rid of him! get him sold asap!
owl83
probably all paper talk anyway
charmer
Mighty speaking of big defenders ala Warhurst, Vadiane Oliver is massive defender turned striker in reserves looks promising he should get a run in this season at some point
wesp
i`ll give a tenner of my own money towards the fee heard that vadine oliver is a hot talent
alcock dived
Forget it lads although i'd love it to be true this deal will never happen because Doncaster could'nt afford his 9k wage.
ecco owl
If they will take him off our hands we should let him go. A striker that does not score is worth next to nothing. I would be surprised if we get £5,000 for him. I thought a swap for Billy Sharp might be worth a try.
caversham
Sell! I'm not one to get on the players backs, but he hasn't really done anything while he's been at wednesday, except get paid. Usually you'll see glimpses of class, or a few goals. All I've seen has been ordinary. He's one of our highest paid players. This would free up quite a bit of cash. Think we should get a premiership striker, on loan. Also a young up and coming starlet from the lower leagues (better value).
steve_wed
If Donny can't afford his wages we should lower the selling price just to make sure the deal goes through!
steve_wed
I wanna see Modest or Oliver given a chance over Jeffers. I really think Laws should do whatever he can to sell Jeffers.
Danigol_10_SWFC
***** billy sharp the ****, he is a ***** piggy ******** ***** him the ***** ****, what a *****ing ***** *********!
ozzietheowl
Lads I live in Donny I will come & pick him up & drop him off at deepthroat stadium I will also put up £20 for his fee
HorburyOwl
As for silly blunt sorry Billy blunt I would rather stick pins in my...... I will leave that to your imagination no thanks not for me
HorburyOwl
i think berating billy sharp because of his sheffield united ties is pretty short sighted. if you were being honest you'd recognise he's a relatively pacey, hard-working striker with an eye for goal. he's not done well at the blunts because of their playing style and tendency to play him in the wrong position... Lawsy would bring the best out of him so it's definately something we should look into.
Carbone's Padawan
Padawan ru a piggy in disguise ru a piggy in disguise
ollyowl70
Like i sed earlier he turned us down to go to piggy lane so thats where he belongs let him rot there.
ollyowl70
im not taking sides with padawan but defo understand where hes coming from, hes a better striker than jeffers and probably clarke. wen he was on top form a season ago he was awesome, if he could capture that form with wednesday, scoring goals for fun, hed definately be a great asset to the squad.
OWL-4EVA
Thats top form in league 1. Billy the*ig aint never had any form in the Championship. Ask any blunt, he's is a garbage headless chicken. Despite being at Hillsboro for some time Franny aint showed us enough of himself yet. There's still a chance for him to rise again. He's got some quality touches. Needless to say we do need another striker "A BIG LAD" Get Beevers up front! LOL Aint there anymore owls news today. This one draggin on a bit. I hear we're spending a few quid on the stadium. She's due for a tarting up. We're getting a bit behind in good ground stakes
MightyWednesday
theres a surprise.... because ive got a view that conflicts with the majority I'm suddenly a "piggy in disguise"... good one olly.... good one...
Carbone's Padawan
glad theyre getting rid of the posts in the kop and away end!!! they should have put a room on the corner between north and away tho!!!! come on-wheres this striker then???????? cant rely on jeffers 1 jot so come on get it done!!!!
supersibon
Here is also a view that conflicts with the majority. We should definately stick with Jeffers. The amount of time and resources that have been spent on him justify keeping faith. He is now looking fit, he has a quality on the ball that some of our other players don't have and he will hopefully start scoring soon. Also Leon Clarke gets a horrendous amount of stick but if you look at his goals scored against his time on the pitch it stacks up quite well. The most important thing is to get these players fit and on the pitch, then we can judge them
Hirsty's Shinpads
I agree HS. Hes not had chance yet and weve spent too much on him. I reckon he will score 2 tonight and I have never been wrong about anything. Ever. In my life.
Radon Barrier
fair comment Hirsty's Shinpads.
Carbone's Padawan
i 100% dont agree-jeffers is a striker and a goal is a very very rare occurance for him so why exactly should we stick with him???
supersibon
what a set of idiots you all with the exception of a few. Those posts are just jelous and aggresive swipes. you lot don't need any encouragement off any of us to start a rant as the proof isl there for all to see in those comments above.
bladesforlife1889
Still think he's worth keeping after tonight? dont make me laugh. Get this loser out of SWFC asap.
Danigol_10_SWFC
He did more in 10 mins than Tudgay did in 90 stop signalling Jeffers out every game
wesp
Supersibon as your name suggests you are / were a fan of Sibon, unless it is ironic? Well he also started in a similar fashion to Jeffers and copped some stick before becoming something of a cult hero. Jeffers is the really the first player since Sibon to have a high level of composure which I believe will see him successful. Only a great save stopped him tonight!
Hirsty's Shinpads
how many more chances does he need though.how many goals as he scored the whole time hes been here-and sum people want to give him yet another chance-im sorry but he needs to be sold asap!!! i agree wesp-havent been impressed with tudgay 1st few games-if sodje n clarke are fit-stick em both in!!! at least sibon scored goals at this level!!!!
supersibon
Here Here Supersibon he's done nowt any where since he left everton years ago speaking to my two brothers in law both donny fans they said they dont want him at the deepthroat can you blame them by the way sibon was **** aswell not as bad a bob the builder but bad no the less
