Jeffers Transfer Listed By Owls

Francis Jeffers' time as a Sheffield Wednesday player looks all-but over after the striker was hit with a maximum club fine and placed on the transfer list.

The former Arsenal and Everton man was sent-off in the Owls' 2-0 defeat at Port Vale last night, an act which proved to be the straw that broke the camel's back, with Laws fining him and also transfer listing him.

Laws refused to comment on the sending off in the post-match press conference, but has acted on viewing the video replay of the incident.

Laws told the official SWFC website: 'His conduct last night was totally unacceptable and something that this football club will not tolerate from any player.

'We have therefore enforced the heaviest punishment available to the club with immediate effect and transfer listed the player.

'The kind of behaviour enacted on Tuesday night is completely unacceptable and does not represent what Sheffield Wednesday stands for and clearly sets a bad example for the game of football.'

Jeffers has struggled to make an impact on the pitch following his move from Blackburn Rovers, and has fallen down the pecking order at S6.

Doncaster Rovers were linked with his services last week, and Jeffers could be moving away before the transfer deadline next week.

i could never understand why we paid so much for him in the first place, 700k was a lot for a club in our situation back then. I feel sorry for Doncaster, this guy is getting gigs purely off his reputation.

He was covered in blood cos he nutted one of their players! Great decision to transfer list the useless *****. Time to get a pacey striker in now, or give a young lad a chance, lets see some passion! UTO!
