Jeffers Transfer Listed By Owls

Francis Jeffers' time as a Sheffield Wednesday player looks all-but over after the striker was hit with a maximum club fine and placed on the transfer list.

The former Arsenal and Everton man was sent-off in the Owls' 2-0 defeat at Port Vale last night, an act which proved to be the straw that broke the camel's back, with Laws fining him and also transfer listing him.

Laws refused to comment on the sending off in the post-match press conference, but has acted on viewing the video replay of the incident.

Laws told the official SWFC website: 'His conduct last night was totally unacceptable and something that this football club will not tolerate from any player.

'We have therefore enforced the heaviest punishment available to the club with immediate effect and transfer listed the player.

'The kind of behaviour enacted on Tuesday night is completely unacceptable and does not represent what Sheffield Wednesday stands for and clearly sets a bad example for the game of football.'

Jeffers has struggled to make an impact on the pitch following his move from Blackburn Rovers, and has fallen down the pecking order at S6.

Doncaster Rovers were linked with his services last week, and Jeffers could be moving away before the transfer deadline next week.

i could never understand why we paid so much for him in the first place, 700k was a lot for a club in our situation back then. I feel sorry for Doncaster, this guy is getting gigs purely off his reputation.

He was covered in blood cos he nutted one of their players! Great decision to transfer list the useless *****. Time to get a pacey striker in now, or give a young lad a chance, lets see some passion! UTO!

If anyone puts an offer in for him even gor a free transfer they must be crazy.....hopefully he can be 'marketed' in the right way and quickly (Ex England, Arsenal, Evertion etc etc).

it was his own blood. he nutted somebody and bust himself open in the process... ironic really... he was the one doing the attacking and he still ended up being the one injured. who said he was injury prone?

The Port Vale player had a pop at FJ first but that still doesnt excuse what he did. Apparently he was supposed to be aiming for his nose, but thats another header he managed to f00k up. And if we get more than 250k for him then we will have mugged whoever pays it. Nobody in their right mind is going to touch him with a ten foot barge pole.

my guess is that we'll ship him out on loan to someone for rest of season, and he'll leave on a free at the end of this one. no one's gonna pay for him - he has a 3 match ban which wont be completed til mid-september!

I agree charmer, no one in their right mind would pay a fee for him, and also pay his large wages. Best we can hope for is to ship him out on loan until end of season, then someone will take him on a free in July

on the plus side tho i hate to see players getting sent off for time wasting and kicking the ball away etc, if you are gonna get a red card you may as well do it in style!

Have you been smoking crack CP?? Whatever happens, he'll be gone at the end of the season, when his contract runs out. IF anyone makes any inquiries about him, it would be in his best interests to go, otherwise he'll be risking having nothing come next July.

Dead right US. This could be the end of the road for Franny. I hate to think how much money he has made from a good start on Merseyside and little else!

Could be the making of him. Lets face it nobody is going to take him off us so he will either rot in reserves all season or he'll get picked, get roundly booed when he comes on (not by me tho) and hopefully try and prove everyone wrong
