Transfer Deadline Day? Done!

Well that certainly lived up to expectations - expectations of zero action down at Hillsborough this transfer deadline day.

Let's face it, we all knew nobody was coming in before today's 5pm deadline for transfers, and although we were keeping our fingers crossed for some departures (you know who they are!), we all knew that was unlikely, too...

This year's transfer deadline day failed to live up to last year's extravaganza throughout English football, not just here at Hillsborough, with transfers few and far between.

Richard Wood remains at S6 despite reports linking him with a move to Ipswich, while Francis Jeffers remains at S6 despite being transfer-listed last week in a bid to see the 'fox in the box' away from the club.

Of course, Woody is yet to pledge his future to Wednesday so the big news could come in January, when the transfer window re-opens, although no doubt negotiations will be going on behind the scenes with regards to his new contract.

We all knew the finances weren't there to bring anyone else in, although hopes no doubt remain high that the next transfer window could well prove to be more fruitful for Wednesday, with the hope of investment firmly at the forefront.

And for a club like Wednesday, who operate mainly on loan deals, the transfer window will mean little - with loans with a view to permanent signings still available to clubs throughout the autumn and winter.

no news is good news I suppose, Woody has done well the last two games and if we continue our comprehensive winning form of the last two games and push for promotion why would he want to leave
