Owls Pack Stats For August

No fewer than eight Owls stars feature in the Actim Index Top 100 following the August Championship games.

Three league goals, three assists and top drawer commitment (from someone who allegedly had a 'slow' start to the season) sees Marcus Tudgay third on the Championship Actim list, building on his sparkling 14 goal season last time around.

Whilst you might expect the Owls hitman to be there or thereabouts on the Actim stats, what is pleasing to see at this stage is other team members packing the top places.

Darren Potter is our top midfielder at #14, proving to be an astute Brian Laws close season acquisition. Not too much further down the ladder are wily old campaigner Michael Gray (#31) and in-the-news Richard Wood (#32), Woody nodding in a couple of handy goals to propel himself up the ladder.

Our man Tommy Spurr features at #44, and good to see James O'Connor at #60 - the former Burnley man has come out of the blocks running and grabbed that centre midfield spot for himself.

New man Darren Purse (#67) and flying winger Jermaine Johnson (#72, hitting the net twice), complete the Wednesday roll call in the top 100.

It's early days, and the thumping wins at Plymouth and at home to Scunthorpe obviously were a factor, but it's encouraging to see so many Wednesday players stand up and be counted in the first month of the season. Long may it continue!
