Owls Ladies Prepare For Toffees

Sheffield Wednesday Ladies take a break from league action as they start their League Cup campaign with a home clash to Premier League side Everton.

The Owls go into the clash on the back of a first victory of the season against Curzon Ashton last weekend and will be hoping to cause an upset against the Women's Premier League side.

Wednesday are likely to be without in-form midfielder Rachel Lee for the game following injury at Lincoln last Wednesday.

Striker Tanya Rich will also be missing from the squad, but in-form striker Rachel Skeemer will be availible after picking up a calf injury in last Sunday's victory over Curzon.

Assistant Manager Liam Kelly said: 'Sunday promises to be a fantastic advert for the women's game.

'This is what cup football is all about; Everton, one of the best teams in the country, and for me, I feel they'll this year tip Arsenal to winning the Premier League; and Sheffield Wednesday, young, vibrant, ambitious, focused and now developing that winning mentality, going out to prove we can mix it with the big guns.

'No one outside of our dressing room will think we can win, but I prefer that underdog situation. All the pressure is on Everton, but we are certainly not here to make up numbers, we will go out with our systems, philosophy and pride and passion and do the name of Sheffield Wednesday proud.

'And if our players believe in themselves, play with the pride that they have, and show just the right amount of respect, but not too much, to Everton, then anything is possible in this wonderful world of football.'

Following on from the England Ladies against Germany Ladies European Cup Final today, the Owls Ladies are hoping for a big crowd at their Worksop ground on Sunday, kick-off 2pm.
