Owls Interested In Algerian Defender

Owls boss Paul Sturrock has shown interest in Algerian defender Madjid Bougherra ,who is currently at Crewe Alexandra, according to reports today.

Reports suggest Bougherra has playeed his final game for the Railway men and Sturrock is set to a make a move for the centre half in the next few days.

The 23-year-old has made 11 appearances for Alex since moving to Gresty Road at the end of January. Despite Crewe's relegation to League One, the Algerian has attratced intertest from a number of Championship clubs, including Owls' rivals Leeds United.

Sturrock has hinted that he will bring in players sooner rather than later, and may even miss the final match of the season against Derby County to begin his search for new talent.

Bougherra seems to fit Sturrock's bill, and his impressive performance against Wednesday a few weeks ago will have alerted the Scotsman to his services.

Something i cannot answer myself, but.... i wonder if he is the first Algerian to play in the football league. Not one of the better african nations are they?

No... he is not the first Algerian to play in the football league. Remember Ali Benarbia, the ManCity's midfielder
