Owls Ladies Ram Raided

Sheffield Wednesday Ladies FC put in a below-par performance to slip to a 3-1 defeat to their Derby counterparts at the weekend.

The Owls went into the game full of confidence following recent performances but stopper Danni Maslin was picking the ball out of the back of her net as early as the first minute as a looping effort from the hosts got the better of her.

The visitors had a number of chances to win the game but just couldn't put the ball into the back of the net.

They did level before the break as the Derby stopper couldn't keep Beth Gingell's free-kick from crossing the line, but Derby hit back with their second to take the lead into the half-time break.

And they added a third in the second half to wrap up the victory and leave Wednesday with work to do on the training pitch.
